“In a noisy pub the first notes of a harp catch the crowd’s attention.  When the singer’s voice is added the pub falls silent.  Such is the magic of Siobhan Kerr when she joins the Tuesday night music sessions at the Corktown Pub in Hamilton.  I have been attending these sessions for over eight years and there is only one performer who awes the audience in this manner, Siobhan Kerr. No style of music seems to faze Siobhan.  While laments, ballads and more classical pieces might seem to be ‘typical’ for the harp, Siobhan joins right in with rollicking jigs and reels and can accompany any of our singers’ styles, enriching them all.  When she sings it is with the voice of an angel, sweet and pure, gentle and powerful, and guaranteed to bring a lump to your throat on the more wistful songs. I have also been impressed by Siobhan’s generous contribution of her time.  Soon after we first met Siobhan a member of Hamilton Irish Arts experienced a personal loss and was looking for a performer at a funeral.  Siobhan was the first to offer her talents.  Recently she has performed at a Seniors’ residence in Hamilton, even tailoring her repertoire to reflect the ethnic diversity of the residents.  She does all of this while balancing her extremely busy personal and professional life, and always with the brightest of smiles. Siobhan Kerr is an amazing talent, an outstanding teacher and as fine a person as you will meet.  We are lucky to have her in our midst!”
